Italian Kale & Sausage Soup

Posted on

In the winter time, soup is everything to me. I love being able to curl up with a piping bowl full of bone broth whether its morning, noon or night. It doesn’t matter. I especially love soups that don’t take much effort, I think many of us can agree that having a pot simmer on the stove without having much to do with it is ideal. This is especially true I find more me during the Holidays. This year the Holiday season has been especially… Read More

Savory Pumpkin Stuffing

Posted on

I love fall and winter for many reasons, partly the Holiday season, but if I’m being perfectly honest, it’s all the warming food that really does the body good. The foods of the season are things like winter squash, hearty herbs, root vegetables and savory meats. These foods give us sustenance, keeping us fuller longer. But yes of course, there is an association with the Holidays that makes these meals all the more special. It means friends and family come together, more meals are shared… Read More

Roasted Radishes & Thyme

Posted on

We’re in full fall swing, let the #roastallthings commence! Starting with root vegetables to be exact, I love roasting vegetables to bring out their natural sweetness and make a warm savory side dish to pair with any meal. Radishes are a long time favorite of mine and with so many varieties, there are endless possibilities when it comes to preparing them. I especially love roasted radishes as they make a great alternative to potatoes while still maintaining lower starch, and lower carb, without lacking… Read More

Slow Cooked Fennel & Lemon Chicken

Posted on

One of the reasons fall is my favorite season is because it means that slow cooked meals are more frequent. The ease of adding a few ingredients to a slow cooker or Instant Pot and letting it do all the work for you, makes meals so much easier. A bonus being that the whole house smells intoxicating during the day from the cooking process. I also love slow cooking over night, and waking up to a complete dish ready for the week ahead. A go-to… Read More

Crispy Brussels Sprouts

Posted on

Let’s face it, Brussels sprouts are basically baby cabbage and ‘baby’ anything is cute, right? So naturally, you’d think more people would be all heart-eyes over Brussels sprouts, and I can tell you I am, though I haven’t always been. I love cabbage, and always have. In fact my Grandpa and I have jokingly fought over my Grandma’s cabbage. But Brussels sprouts, not so much. I feel like they’re the younger sibling, totally left out of the fun and somehow they’ve gotten the bad… Read More

Beef Kidney Kofta with Spinach and Figs

Posted on

It’s been a while since I shared about my beef kidney kofta on Instagram and Facebook thinking that no one would be interested  in the weird things I indulge in. Well, way to prove me wrong! So many of you were interested in having this recipe and I realize, like I said, it’s been a WHILE, but between moving, work and I’ll be honest, just life I haven’t been posting recipes as often. Note, I say posting, because I have definitely been creating, so hang… Read More

Roasted Plantains & Okra with Avocado Cremá

Some people either love or hate okra, but maybe you haven’t even tried it! Oh this is exciting. If you love it already, then this recipe is definitely for you and if you’ve not liked it in the past I encourage you to give it another shot, that ultra slimy feel and taste that cause most people to shy away from okra is not present here. Just simply delicious flavor and a decent crunch factor.   Okra of course reminds me of my Southern… Read More

Rosemary Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Posted on

Last weekend I visited my Dad in southern Alabama, the first stop on my trip out west. Knowing full well both my love for cooking delicious and nutritious foods he already had in mind a few things he wanted me to make him while I was there. It’s kind of the coolest thing ever to get to cook for a parent, especially when they ooh and awe over your food. My Dad is pretty much the best recipe taste-tester I have. He loves food just… Read More

Cauliflower & Leek Turmeric Fried Rice

Posted on

Recently I made this “fried rice” on a whim. Truthfully it was a throw together meal that turned out ridiculously good so I thought I should share with you. Fried rice from traditional Chinese takeout restaurants was go my favorite thing order pretty much all my life. Give me some fried rice, perhaps a hot and sour soup, make sure you include a fortune cookie (or two) and I was a happy camper.

Local’s Lamb Burger

Posted on

One of my favorite lunch spots that I’ve ever been to, is this place called Local’s in Fairhope, Alabama where I used to live. One of the first time’s I went there was with my mom when my she visited. I kept saying that I wanted to go but never found the time or opportunity. Don’t you love it when someone comes to visit and you get to explore your own town as if you’re a visitor too? It’s awesome. So now that I’ve… Read More
